Career in Architectural Engineering
Eligibility
Students who wish to pursue a career in architectural engineering should complete their bachelor’s degree in architecture (B. Arch) or a Diploma in architecture. The eligibility criteria for Bachelor in architecture is to pass their class VII or any other equivalent qualifying exam from a recognized board or university with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. It is mandatory for the students to have a solid background in science, mathematics and also humanities and computers. There is also an entrance exam that the candidate must qualify.

Specialization
A specialization in Architectural Engineering will enable the candidate to get a strong knowledge of engineering design, structures, mechanical and electrical systems, and construction management. They will also develop their strength in materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, electric circuits, and engineering economics. They will also get knowledge of the history of architectural design.
Skills Required
The candidates should be proficient in different branches of mathematics like differential equations, probability, and statistics. They should also have a thorough knowledge of calculus-based physics and general chemistry. Since, architectural engineers have to interact with other design professionals it is very necessary that candidates should be very good at teamwork. Presentation, graphic designing and critical thinking skills are of added value. Only then will it be possible to make cutting edge contributions in this field.
Career Prospects
Architectural engineering courses are unique and so there are excellent career prospects in this field. Also, with the glaring lack of skills in the building sector there is an increasing demand for architectural engineers. Candidates pursuing this course can expect to get hired by leading structural engineering firms. With experience, they can also advance to supervisory and senior management positions. A background in architectural engineering will also allow candidates to work as salespeople in architectural companies. With investment and experience, they can also opt for opening their own architectural firms. The future is bright for architectural engineers as with the reorganization of environmental issues there is going to be a huge demand for creative urban and environmental engineers.
